I try to do a google search for hairstyle images, and there's these random photographs with watermarks across. I've done searches for historical images and they have watermarks obscuring them. And these are historical images that are over 40 years old!!
I don't want to steal these images.
I don't want to post them anywhere else.
I only want to put these images into my personal collection for my personal reference.
This watermarking craze is getting silly. It's undermining the value in finding images for reference. It undermines their historical purposes, especially when they are images of product trademarks you never owned in the first place. Let's just say American Girl dolls...there's this one site I stopped visiting because there was an annoying watermark across every single picture from the old skool AG catalogues. I don't like watermarks on trademarked images from 3rd-party sites because of that.
I understand the need to place one on an artpiece, but I don't believe one should be pasted across it if it's a piece 10 years older. Again, historical value.
Le Sigh. I don't know where the Internet's gone, but I don't like it. Google Search used to be the place for finding images you couldn't find in a book, but now it appears I'll be hitting the books more often.
On another note, I'm drawing again. Somewhat. I have a Shakespeare project due in about 3 weeks and I chose Hamlet. I'm drawing fairies of the characters. So far I have descriptions and an art style. I just don't know I'm updating my site
More later.
